About Quasimodo Metal
Works
|
What We Do
We design and build elegant
yet simple products that will perform exceptionally for a lifetime,
and we do it as efficiently as possible to minimize waste.
|
What We Don't Do
We're all about the products
- our marketing and customer service skills leave a lot to be
desired. We try to answer the phone when we can, and we try to
return calls and e-mails, but unfortunately we don't always succeed.
|
Who We Are
Quasimodo Metal Works
is a collaborative effort of a number of designers, engineers,
craftsmen (and craftswomen), and small businesses in the San Francisco
Bay Area and throughout northern California. All of our products
are designed and built locally. Eric Pante, a Bay Area engineer,
designer, and entrepreneur, is the managing director. He takes
care of the day to day operations and is often in the Berkeley
facility working on projects. He is responsible (to blame?) for
not answering the phone and not responding to messages.
Quasimodo Metal Works
is part of a group of businesses related through shared ownership.
Other businesses in the group are Iron Age Technology Corp. (www.iron-age.com);
Ishi Pishi (www.ishipishi.com),
a neighborhood electric vehicle development company; and Quixote
Wind (www.quixotewind.com),
a manufacturer of small vertical axis wind turbines.

Our Facilities
Our state of the art
production facility in Berkeley has all the modern conveniences
- a window, a door, a roof that only leaks in a few places, and
this year we might install a heater. We have a design studio well
equipped with the latest engineering and design workstations,
software, plotters, and even a drafting table (WOOHOO!!). Our
workshop has extensive metal fabrication capabilities and some
plastic and wood fabrication capabilities for prototyping.
We also have a space
in Chico, CA that we are working (slowly) on turning into a retail
location.
