About Quasimodo Metal

What We Do
We design and build elegant
yet simple products that will perform exceptionally for a lifetime,
and we do it as efficiently as possible to minimize waste.
|
| |
What We Don't Do
We're all about the products
- our marketing and customer service skills leave a lot to be
desired. We try to answer the phone when we can, and we try to
return calls and e-mails, but unfortunately we don't always succeed
(sorry).

Who We Are
The Quasimodo Family
is descended from a long line of French bell ringers, some of
whom were hunchbacked and not exactly fashion model material.
When the French bell ringing industry was taken over by illegal
immigrants from England (leading eventually to the French Revolution),
the Quasimodos began manufacturing their own line of bells from
a proprietary mixture of coal, left over gruel and horse manure.
Unfortunately the bells would often combust when struck repeatably,
leading to the total destruction of several French villages. Driven
out of France by an irate mob with no tolerance for innovative
thinkers, the Quasimodos settled in California and began making
their bells from metal. Thus was born Quasimodo Metal Works.
In 2004 Quasimodo Metal
Works was acquired by Iron Age Technology Corp.
in a ruthless hostile takeover. Iron Age Technology Corp. also
owns Ishi Pishi Electric Wagons & Carts (www.ishipishi.com),
won in a poker game under dubious circumstances; and Quixote Wind
Turbines (www.quixotewind.com),
purchased from the doddering patriarch of the Quixote family for
$1. Eric Pante, the Last of the Quasimodos, was able to seize
control of Iron Age Technology Corp. in a boardroom coup and continues
the tradition of innovative and somewhat unusual products.

Our Facilities
Our state of the art
production facility in Berkeley has all the modern conveniences
- a window, a door, a roof that only leaks in a few places, and
this year we might install an indoor swimming pool and tennis
court for our employees (and we might not). We have a design studio
well equipped with the latest engineering and design workstations,
software, plotters, and even a drafting table (WOOHOO!!). Our
workshop has extensive metal fabrication capabilities and some
plastic and wood fabrication capabilities for prototyping.
